    Sławomir Michałowski, Aleksander Prociak*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.3, No.1, pp. 14-18, 2015, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2014.634131

Abstract This article describes the effects of the modifi cation of polyurethane system with rapeseed oil-based polyol on the cell structure and physical-mechanical properties of conventional fl exible polyurethane foams. The foams were prepared by substituting a part of the petrochemical polyether-polyols mixture with the bio-polyol based on rapeseed oil. Selected physical-mechanical properties of these foams were examined and compared to the properties of reference foam. The properties such as apparent density, resilience, comfort factor and stress-strain characteristics were analyzed in compression tests. It was found that the modifi cation of polyurethane formulation with rapeseed oil-based polyol improves the selected properties… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.2, pp. 487-500, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021149

Abstract River bending is the major effect responsible for bed topography and bank changes. In this study, fluid velocity (measured by a three-dimensional Doppler advanced point current meter) and bed topographical data have been collected in 40 sections of an experimental model. The whole flume was composed of an organic glass bend, upstream and downstream water tanks, two transition straight sections, a circulation pump, and a connection pipeline. Each section has been found to be characterized by a primary circulation and a small reverse circulation, with some sections even presenting three more or more circulation structures. The minimum circulation intensity has… More >

Abstract Flexible strain sensor has attracted much attention because of its potential application in human motion detection. In this work, the prepared strain sensor was obtained by encapsulating electrospun carbonized sponge (CS) with room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (RTVS). In this paper, the formation mechanism of conductive sponge was studied. Based on the combination of carbonized sponge and RTVS, the strain sensing mechanism and piezoresistive properties are discussed. After research and testing, the CS/RTVS flexible strain sensor has excellent fast response speed and stability, and the maximum strain coefficient of the sensor is 136.27. In this study, the self-developed CS/RTVS sensor… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.11, pp. 2729-2746, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019721

Abstract The flexible wearable sensors with excellent stretchability, high sensitivity and good biocompatibility are signifi- cantly required for continuously physical condition tracking in health management and rehabilitation monitoring. Herein, we present a high-performance wearable sensor. The sensor is prepared with nanocomposite hydrogel by using silk fibroin (SF), polyacrylamide (PAM), polydopamine (PDA) and graphene oxide (GO). It can be used to monitor body motions (including large-scale and small-scale motions) as well as human electrophysiological (ECG) signals with high sensitivity, wide sensing range, and fast response time. Therefore, the proposed sensor is promising in the fields of rehabilitation, motion monitoring and disease diagnosis. More >

Abstract The article presents a miniaturized monopole antenna dedicated to modern flexible electronic systems. The antenna combines three fundamental properties in a single structure. Firstly, it is characterized by a compact size compared to the state-of-the-art literature with an overall size of 18 × 18 × 0.254 mm3, secondly, the proposed antenna integrates the reconfigurability function of frequency, produced by means of a Positive-Intrinsic-Negative (PIN) diode introduced into the radiating element. Thus, the antenna is able to switch between different frequencies and different modes, making it suitable to meet the ever-changing demands of communication systems. third, the antenna is equipped by the property of flexibility.… More >

    Sarosh Ahmad1,*, Shakir Ullah2, Adnan Ghaffar3, Daniel Segovia Vargas1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2457-2472, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.025527

Abstract With the help of in-body antennas, the wireless communication among the implantable medical devices (IMDs) and exterior monitoring equipment, the telemetry system has brought us many benefits. Thus, a very thin-profile circularly polarized (CP) in-body antenna, functioning in ISM band at 2.45 GHz, is proposed. A tapered coplanar waveguide (CPW) method is used to excite the antenna. The radiator contains a pentagonal shape with five horizontal slits inside to obtain a circular polarization behavior. A bendable Roger Duroid RT5880 material (εr = 2.2, tanδ = 0.0009) with a typical 0.25 mm-thickness is used as a substrate. The proposed antenna has… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.9, pp. 2319-2334, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021030

Abstract Flexible sensors are attractive due to potential applications in body exercise and ambient gas monitoring systems. Cellulose and its derivatives have combined superiorities such as intrinsic and structural flexibility, ease of chemical functionalization, moisture sensitivity, and mechanical stability, enabling them to be promising candidates as flexible supporting substrates and flexible sensitive materials. Significant progress consequently has been achieved to improve mechanical, electrical, and chemical performance. The latest advance in materials synthesis, structure design, fabrication control, and working mechanism of novel cellulose-based flexible sensors are reviewed and discussed, including strain sensors, humidity sensors, and harmful gas sensors. Various strategies were summarized… More > Graphic Abstract

Kelong Huang, Jie Yan, Lei Zhang*, Faye Zhang, Mingshun Jiang, Qingmei Sui

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 179-194, 2022, DOI: 10.32604/sdhm.2022.018202

Abstract A structural displacement field reconstruction method is proposed to aim at the problems of deformation monitoring and displacement field reconstruction of flexible plate-like structures in the aerospace field. This method combines the deep neural network model of the cross-layer connection structure with the fiber grating sensor network. This paper first introduces the principle of strain detection of fiber grating sensor, studies the mapping relationship between strain and displacement, and proposes a strain-displacement conversion model based on an improved neural network. Then the intelligent structure deformation monitoring system is built. By controlling the stepping distance of the motor to produce different… More >

    Sung Won Hwang, Dae-Ki Hong*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 3283-3297, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.025931

Abstract Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are attracting attention for their high performance in various fields, because increasing the network size improves its functioning. Since large-scale neural networks are difficult to implement on custom hardware, a two-dimensional (2D) structure is applied to an ANN in the form of a crossbar. We demonstrate a synapse crossbar device from recent research by applying a memristive system to neuromorphic chips. The system is designed using two-dimensional structures, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and graphene oxide (GO). Raman spectrum analysis results indicate a D-band of 1421 cm−1 that occurs in the disorder; band is expressed as an atomic… More >
