Abstract Cow mastitis is the most common disease that affects the dairy farming industry and causes serious harm to dairy cows and humans, and Staphylococcus (S.) aureus is one of the main pathogens that cause mastitis in dairy cows. In this study, a mastitis model was established through the infection of bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs) with S. aureus (bacterial concentration of 1 × 109/mL), and these cells and a blank group (untreated) were analyzed by flow cytometry (10000 cells, 200 cells collected per second), hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry. In addition, the lncRNAs (long non-coding RNAs) in the… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 41-48, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.010454

Abstract Glycosylation of mucins mediated by N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferases (GALNTs) is closely related to respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition, long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) participate in physiological and pathological processes through various epigenetic mechanisms. In this study, we found that a novel LncRNA named NKILA combined with multiple mucins and GALNTs potentially by several bioinformatics methods, and we used quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) to detect the expressions of NKILA, MUC5AC, MUC5B, and GALNT2 mRNA in 50 cases of asthma samples and 19 cases of normal samples, whose results showed that the expression of NKILA was significantly… More >

LncRNA-ATB Can Be a Biomarker for Diagnosis and Prognosis Evaluation of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Nan Geng1, Wenxia Hu1, Zhikun Liu2, Jingwei Su2, Wenyu Sun3, Shaonan Xie4, Cuimin Ding1,*

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.4, pp. 245-254, 2020, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2020.014125

Abstract Objective: This study was set out to inquire into the expression and clinical significance of lncRNA activated by transforming growth factor β (LncRNA-ATB) and in cancer tissues of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: LncRNA-ATB in cancer tissues and adjacent tissues of 89 NSCLC patients was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and its clinical diagnostic value in NSCLC was determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Based on the median expression of LncRNAATB in NSCLC tissues, 89 patients were allocated into high- and low-expression groups. The 3-year survival rate was calculated using Kaplan-Meier method and… More >

RETRACTED: LncRNA TUG1 Targets miR-222-3p to Take Part in Proliferation and Invasion of Breast Cancer Cells

Yuqin Xie1, Shuang Deng1, Qian Deng2, Jiudong Xu*

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.3, pp. 179-188, 2020, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2020.012544

Abstract This study aimed to explore LncRNA TUG1 targeted miR-222-3p in the proliferation and invasion of breast cancer (BC) cells. Seventy-six BC patients admitted to our hospital and 62 health check-ups at the same time were selected as the research objects. Among them, the former was seen as the observation group (OG), and the latter was considered as the control group (CG). The clinical significance of LncRNA TUG1 and miR-222-3p in BC was detected. Human BC cell MCF7 and normal human breast epithelial cell MCF-10A were purchased. After cells were transfected with LncRNA TUG1 and miR-222-3p, their proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis… More >

LncRNA LINC01772 promotes metastasis and EMT process in cervical cancer by sponging miR-3611 to relieve ZEB1

    BIOCELL, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 191-198, 2019, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2019.06989

Abstract Cervical cancer (CC), has been identified as one of the most frequent malignant tumors all over the world, with high mortality in females. A growing number of investigations have confirmed that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in the progression of multiple cancers. Nonetheless, the biological function and regulatory mechanism of LINC01772 in CC haven’t been explored so far. In this study, LINC01772 expression was found to be upregulated in tissues and cells of CC. Knocking down LINC01772 suppressed CC cell proliferation, migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process. Through molecular mechanism assays, LINC01772 was verified to be bound… More >
