Smart Colorimetric Corn Starch Films Combined with Anthocyanin-Loaded Glutenin-Carboxymethyl Chitosan Nanocomplexes for Freshness Monitoring of Chilled Pork

    Juan Yan1, Wenchao Li1, Xianfang Zhang1, Shisheng Liu2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 71-87, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.028927

Abstract In this study, intelligent, pH-responsive colorimetric films were prepared by encapsulating anthocyanins in nanocomplexes prepared from glutenin and carboxymethyl chitosan. These nanocomplexes were added to a corn starch matrix and used in the freshness monitoring of chilled pork. The effects of anthocyanin-loaded nanocomplexes on the physical, structural, and functional characteristics of the films were investigated. The addition of anthocyanin-loaded nanocomplexes increased the tensile strength, elongation at break, hydrophobicity, and light transmittance of the films while decreasing their water vapor permeability. This is because new hydrogen bonds are formed between the film components, resulting in a more homogeneous and dense structure.… More >

    Haoyuan Guo1, Jianxun Zhang1,2,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09071

Abstract In this paper, the dynamic response of clamped rectangular sandwich tubes with metal foam core under transverse blast loading is studied by analytical analysis and FE simulation. It is assumed that the local denting occurs before the overall bending, and the local denting leads to the reduction of the fully plastic bending moment of cross-section. First, based on the modified solution for the maximum deflection of the solid beam under transverse blast loading, a semiempirical analytical solution for the dynamic response of rectangular hollow metal tube is given subjected to transverse blast loading considering local denting effect and combined axial… More >

Effects of Friction and Strain Hardening on ELS Mode II Interlaminar Fracture Test

    Chennian Shi1, Wu Xu1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09634

Abstract Accurate determination of the interlaminar mode II fracture toughness is much more difficult than that of mode I delamination, due to friction and crack closure. In this paper, A-scan is used to measure the crack growth length of end-loaded split (ELS) test through cyclic unloading and reloading. Interesting hysteresis loops are observed in the experimental load-displacement curve, which has not been fully understood by the existing literature. The frictional effect from the load fixture is analytically determined and numerically validated. It absorbs considerable energy during the creation of new crack surface, but has been overlooked. A simple method is proposed… More >

Abstract Upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) is the most important plant producing natural fibers for the textile industry. In this study, we first investigated the phenotypic variation of seven agronomic traits of 273 diverse cotton accessions in the years 2017 and 2018, which were from 18 geographical regions. We found large variations among the traits in different geographical regions and only half of the traits in either years 2017 or 2018 followed a normal distribution. We then genotyped the collection with 81,612 high quality SNPs. Phylogenetic tree and population structure revealed a diverse genetic structure of the core collection, and geographical diversification… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.2, pp. 447-461, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.042220

Abstract Clay, as the most common soil used for foundation fill, is widely used in various infrastructure projects. The physical and mechanical properties of clay are influenced by the pore solution environment. This study uses a GDS static/dynamic triaxial apparatus and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments to investigate the effects of cyclic loading on clay foundations. Moreover, the development of cumulative strain in clay is analyzed, and a fitting model for cumulative plastic strain is introduced by considering factors such as NaCl solution concentration, consolidation stress ratio, and cycle number. In particular, the effects of the NaCl solution concentration and consolidation stress… More >

Abstract System-wide information management (SWIM) is a complex distributed information transfer and sharing system for the next generation of Air Transportation System (ATS). In response to the growing volume of civil aviation air operations, users accessing different authentication domains in the SWIM system have problems with the validity, security, and privacy of SWIM-shared data. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a SWIM cross-domain authentication scheme based on a consistent hashing algorithm on consortium blockchain and designs a blockchain certificate format for SWIM cross-domain authentication. The scheme uses a consistent hash algorithm with virtual nodes in combination with a… More >
