Abstract This paper proposes a modified golden jackal optimization (IGJO) algorithm to solve the OCL (which stands for optimal cooling load) problem to minimize energy consumption. In this algorithm, many tools have been developed, such as numerical visualization, local field method, competitive selection method, and iterative strategy. The IGJO algorithm is used to improve the research capabilities of the algorithm in terms of global tuning and rotation speed. In order to fully utilize the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, three famous examples of OCL problems in basic ventilation systems were studied and compared with some previously published works. The results show… More >

Abstract Load forecasting is a crucial aspect of intelligent Virtual Power Plant (VPP) management and a means of balancing the relationship between distributed power grids and traditional power grids. However, due to the continuous emergence of power consumption peaks, the power supply quality of the power grid cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, an intelligent calculation method is required to effectively predict the load, enabling better power grid dispatching and ensuring the stable operation of the power grid. This paper proposes a decentralized heterogeneous federated distillation learning algorithm (DHFDL) to promote trusted federated learning (FL) between different federates in the blockchain. Tianzhe Jiao, Xiaoyue Feng, Chaopeng Guo, Dongqi Wang, Jie Song*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.3, pp. 3585-3603, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040068

Abstract Mobile-edge computing (MEC) is a promising technology for the fifth-generation (5G) and sixth-generation (6G) architectures, which provides resourceful computing capabilities for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as virtual reality, mobile devices, and smart cities. In general, these IoT applications always bring higher energy consumption than traditional applications, which are usually energy-constrained. To provide persistent energy, many references have studied the offloading problem to save energy consumption. However, the dynamic environment dramatically increases the optimization difficulty of the offloading decision. In this paper, we aim to minimize the energy consumption of the entire MEC system under the latency constraint by… More >

    Shengyao Sun1,2, Ying Du3, Jiajun Chen4, Xuan Zhang5, Jiwei Zhang6,*, Yiyi Xu7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.3, pp. 2879-2900, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037483

Abstract In Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), to deal with multiple user equipment (UE)’s task offloading problem of parallel relationships under the multi-constraints, this paper proposes a cooperation partial task offloading method (named CPMM), aiming to reduce UE's energy and computation consumption, while meeting the task completion delay as much as possible. CPMM first studies the task offloading of single-UE and then considers the task offloading of multi-UE based on single-UE task offloading. CPMM uses the critical path algorithm to divide the modules into key and non-key modules. According to some constraints of UE-self when offloading tasks, it gives priority to non-key… More >

Abstract The strict and high-standard requirements for the safety and stability of major engineering systems make it a tough challenge for large-scale finite element modal analysis. At the same time, realizing the systematic analysis of the entire large structure of these engineering systems is extremely meaningful in practice. This article proposes a multilevel hierarchical parallel algorithm for large-scale finite element modal analysis to reduce the parallel computational efficiency loss when using heterogeneous multicore distributed storage computers in solving large-scale finite element modal analysis. Based on two-level partitioning and four-transformation strategies, the proposed algorithm not only improves the memory access rate through… More >

3D Analysis of Effect of Graphite Morphology on Thermomechanical Behaviour of CGI

    Minghua Cao1,*, Konstantinos P. Baxevanakis1, Vadim V. Silberschmidt1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09086

Abstract Compacted graphite iron (CGI) was attractive as an important material for the industry since its introduction in the last century. Thanks to its high strength, great wear resistance and thermal conductivity, CGI became extensively applied in the automotive industry as engine parts: brake drums, cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds. As a metal-matrix composite, CGI contains two microstructural phases: graphite inclusions and a metallic matrix. The main fracture mechanism of CGI under high-temperature service conditions at macroscale is linked to graphite-matrix (interfacial) debonding, formation of microcracks and their networks, and final failure of the material at microscale because of the mismatch… More >

Progressive Failure Analysis of Composite Laminates Subjected to Transverse Loading with Augmented Finite Element Method

    Shu Li1,*, Yan Li1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09078

Abstract In this paper, two-dimensional (2D) orthotropic augmented finite element method (A-FEM) is applied to account for progressive failure of composite laminates under transverse loading, which considers all major cracking modes (delamination, fiber kinking/rupture matrix cracking). High-fidelity simulations of different stacking composite laminates under transverse loading are implemented. Both predicted load−deflection curves and damage evolution are in good agreement with that of experimental results, which demonstrates the numerical capability of A-FEM. In addition, the influence of stacking sequence on the failure mechanism is also studied by predicted damage evolution of laminates with different stacking sequence. Results show that the tensile matrix… More >
