    K. Karthikeyan1,*, Liyakathunisa2, Eman Aljohani2, Thavavel Vaiyapuri3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1641-1654, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.031582

Abstract Cloud data centers consume high volume of energy for processing and switching the servers among different modes. Virtual Machine (VM) migration enhances the performance of cloud servers in terms of energy efficiency, internal failures and availability. On the other end, energy utilization can be minimized by decreasing the number of active, underutilized sources which conversely reduces the dependability of the system. In VM migration process, the VMs are migrated from underutilized physical resources to other resources to minimize energy utilization and optimize the operations. In this view, the current study develops an Improved Metaheuristic Based Failure Prediction with Virtual Machine… More >

    Bobo Luo1,*, Yunbin Xiong1, Zhuoyi Li2, Zhanqing Qu3, Fenggang Liu1, Tiankui Guo3, Zugui Yang1, Yina Shi1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 911-928, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022761

Abstract Due to its long lifespan and high sand-removal efficiency, gravel packing is one of the most applied sand control methods during the recovery of reservoirs with sanding problems. The blockage and retention of injected sand in a gravel pack is a complex process affected by multiple mechanisms. The majority of existing studies based on the phenomenological deep bed filtration (DBF) theory focused on the gravel pack’s overall permeability damage and failed to obtain the inner-pore particle distribution pattern. In this work, experiments and simulations were carried out to reveal the particle distribution in a gravel pack during flooding. In particular,… More >

    IVANA PAJIC-LIJAKOVIC*, MILAN MILIVOJEVIC

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 15-25, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.023469

Abstract A key feature that distinguishes cancer cells from all other cells is their capability to spread throughout the body. Although how cancer cells collectively migrate by following molecular rules which influence the state of cell-cell adhesion contacts has been comprehensively formulated, the impact of physical interactions on cell spreading remains less understood. Cumulative effects of physical interactions exist as the interplay between various physical parameters such as (1) tissue surface tension, (2) viscoelasticity caused by collective cell migration, and (3) solid stress accumulated in the cell aggregate core region. This review aims to point out the role of these physical… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 279-291, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031344

Abstract The demand for cloud computing has increased manifold in the recent past. More specifically, on-demand computing has seen a rapid rise as organizations rely mostly on cloud service providers for their day-to-day computing needs. The cloud service provider fulfills different user requirements using virtualization - where a single physical machine can host multiple Virtual Machines. Each virtual machine potentially represents a different user environment such as operating system, programming environment, and applications. However, these cloud services use a large amount of electrical energy and produce greenhouse gases. To reduce the electricity cost and greenhouse gases, energy efficient algorithms must be… More >

Energy-Efficient Scheduling Based on Task Migration Policy Using DPM for Homogeneous MPSoCs

    Hamayun Khan1,*, Irfan Ud din2, Arshad Ali3, Sami Alshmrany3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 965-981, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031223

Abstract Increasing the life span and efficiency of Multiprocessor System on Chip (MPSoC) by reducing power and energy utilization has become a critical chip design challenge for multiprocessor systems. With the advancement of technology, the performance management of central processing unit (CPU) is changing. Power densities and thermal effects are quickly increasing in multi-core embedded technologies due to shrinking of chip size. When energy consumption reaches a threshold that creates a delay in complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuits and reduces the speed by 10%–15% because excessive on-chip temperature shortens the chip’s life cycle. In this paper, we address the scheduling… More >

    N. Venkata Subramanian1, V. S. Shankar Sriram2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3279-3294, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.023700

    Abstract

Live Virtual Machine (VM) migration is one of the foremost techniques for progressing Cloud Data Centers’ (CDC) proficiency as it leads to better resource usage. The workload of CDC is often dynamic in nature, it is better to envisage the upcoming workload for early detection of overload status, underload status and to trigger the migration at an appropriate point wherein enough number of resources are available. Though various statistical and machine learning approaches are widely applied for resource usage prediction, they often failed to handle the increase of non-linear CDC data. To overcome this issue, a novel Hypergrah based Convolutional… More >

    POOJA JAISWAL1, VERSHA TRIPATHI1, ANSHUL ASSAIYA2, DHARMENDRA KASHYAP3, RAHUL DUBEY4, ANAMIKA SINGH4, JANESH KUMAR2, HEM CHANDRA JHA3, RAJESH SHARMA5, AMIT KUMAR DIXIT6, HAMENDRA SINGH PARMAR1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.12, pp. 2645-2657, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.021754

Abstract Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cell line MDA-MB-231 is known for Warburg metabolism and defects in mitochondria. On the other hand, dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) inhibitors such as sitagliptin and vildagliptin and GLP-1 agonist exendin-4 are known to improve mitochondrial functions as well as biogenesis, but no study has evaluated the influence of these drugs on mitochondrial biogenesis on metastatic breast cancer cell line. We have recently reported anticancer effects of 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide riboside on MDA-MB-231 cells via activation of AMP-dependent kinase (AMPK), which activates the downstream transcription factors PGC-1α, PGC-1β, or FOXO1 for mitochondrial biogenesis; above-mentioned incretin-based therapies are also known to… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.12, pp. 2671-2680, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018054

Abstract Peroxiredoxin 1 (PRDX1) participates in tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, and the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). This study aimed to investigate the effect of PRDX1 on the EMT of airway epithelial cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1). PRDX1 overexpression significantly increased the proliferation and migration of human bronchial epithelial (BEAS-2B) cells, reduced cell apoptosis (p < 0.01), and induced EMT and collagen deposition by upregulating the expression of the matrix metallopeptidase (MMP)2, MMP9, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), N-cadherin, vimentin and twist proteins and inhibiting E-cadherin expression (p < 0.05). PRDX1 overexpression promoted TGF-β1-mediated inhibition of… More >
