    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.3, pp. 2285-2309, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.027996

Abstract Well interference has become a common phenomenon with the increasing scale of horizontal well fracturing. Recent studies on well interference in horizontal wells do not properly reflect the physical model of the postfracturing well groups and the realistic fracturing process of infill wells. Establishing the correspondence between well interference causative factors and manifestations is of great significance for infill well deployment and secondary oil recovery. In this work, we develop a numerical model that considers low velocity non-Darcy seepage in shale reservoirs to study the inter-well interference phenomenon that occurs in the Santanghu field, and construct an explicit hydraulic fracture… More >

    B. Ahmad*, Z. Iqbal

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.8, pp. 1-6, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.8.22

Abstract We examine the behavior of Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model for two-dimensional incompressible flow of Eyring Powell fluid passed over an exponentially stretching sheet. Mathematical formulation is performed by assuming boundary layer approximation. Cattaneo Christov heat flux model is applied to analyze the heat transport phenomenon. Thermal relaxation time is envisaged on the layer induced due to boundary. The governing Partial Differential equations are converted into Ordinary differential equations by the appropriate use of similarity transformation. Shooting approach is used to tackle the obtained boundary layer equations. The effects of obtained similarity parameters are plotted and discussed. Computation results reveal that… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-14, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.25

Abstract Present study concerns with the numerical investigation of MHD transient naturally convective and higher order chemically reactive Maxwell fluid with Nano-particle flow through a vertical porous plate with the effects of heat generation and radiation absorption. A boundary layer approximation is carried out to develop a flow model representing time dependent momentum, energy, and concentration equations. The governing model equations in partial differential equations (PDEs) form are transformed into a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODEs) by using non-similar technique. Explicit Finite Difference Method (EFDM) is employed by implementing an algorithm in Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6a to solve the… More >

    B. Venkateswarlua, P.V. Satya Narayanab,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-10, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.11

Abstract An analysis has been carried out to study the mixed convection flow, heat and mass transfer of an incompressible electrically conducting Maxwell fluid past a vertical stretching sheet in the presence of chemical reaction with thermal diffusion (Soret) and diffusion-thermo (Dufour) effects. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations along with the appropriate boundary conditions are non-dimensionalized using suitable similarity variables. The resulting transformed ordinary differential equations are then solved numerically by shooting technique with fourth order Runge - Kutta method. The influence of various physical parameters on the flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics are discussed through graphs and tables.… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-5, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.9

Abstract The present work is devoted to study the numerical simulation of steady magnetohydrodynamic flow and heat transfer of an Eyring-Powell fluid over a stretching sheet with viscous dissipation. The fluid is taken to be two dimensional electrically conducting and the flow is induced by a stretching surface. The basic governing partial differential equations of non-Newtonian fluid are reduced into the coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformations. The resulting ordinary differential equations are then solved numerically using shooting method with fourth order Runge- Kutta scheme. The effects of Hartmann number, Eckert number, Grashoff number and Eyring-Powell fluid parameters… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.10, pp. 1-8, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.10.30

Abstract The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection heat transfer in a non-Newtonian Powell-Erying fluid flow due to an exponentially shrinking porous sheet is investigated. Both assisting and opposing flows are considered. After use of the suitable transformations, the governing equations become non-similar ODEs. Numerical computations of resulting equations are obtained by very efficient shooting method for several values of involved parameters. The results exhibit that dual non-similar solutions can be found only when some amount of fluid mass is sucked from the flow field through the porous sheet. Many important results on the effect of external magnetic field on mixed convective flow… More >

UNSTEADY BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER OF MAXWELL VISCOELASTIC FLUID WITH TIME FRACTIONAL CATTANEO-CHRISTOV HEAT FLUX MODEL

Mengchen Zhanga , Hui Chenb,*, Ming Shena

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-7, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.21

Abstract The time fractional Cattaneo-Christov flux heat model is first introduced to investigate the flow and heat transfer of Maxwell viscoelastic fluid past a vertical flat plate. Fractional constitutive relation and Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model are applied to construct the governing boundary layer equations of momentum and energy, which are nondimensionalized by new dimensionless variables and solved numerically. The results indicate that there exist intersections on velocity and temperature profiles for different values of Prandtl number when the fractional Cattaneo-Christov flux heat model is considered. Bin Li*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2729-2748, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.029649

Abstract In order to overcome the deficiencies of current methods for the prediction of the productivity of shale gas horizontal wells after fracturing, a new sophisticated approach is proposed in this study. This new model stems from the combination several techniques, namely, artificial neural network (ANN), particle swarm optimization (PSO), Imperialist Competitive Algorithms (ICA), and Ant Clony Optimization (ACO). These are properly implemented by using the geological and engineering parameters collected from 317 wells. The results show that the optimum PSO-ANN model has a high accuracy, obtaining a R2 of 0.847 on the testing. The partial dependence plots (PDP) indicate that… More >

Qing Wang*, Haige Wang, Hongchun Huang, Lubin Zhuo, Guodong Ji

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2569-2578, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025349

Abstract Sticking is the most serious cause of failure in complex drilling operations. In the present work a novel “early warning” method based on an artificial intelligence algorithm is proposed to overcome some of the known problems associated with existing sticking-identification technologies. The method is tested against a practical case study (Southern Sichuan shale gas drilling operations). It is shown that the twelve sets of sticking fault diagnostic results obtained from a simulation are all consistent with the actual downhole state; furthermore, the results from four groups of verification samples are also consistent with the actual downhole state. This shows that… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.7, pp. 3001-3023, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.026604

Abstract To achieve optimal recovery and value-added utilisation of cellulose in peanut shells, the cellulose in peanut shells was first extracted using the sodium hydroxide-sodium chlorite method. Then, cellulose hydrogel was prepared by graft copolymerisation using N, N’-methylenebisacrylamide as the cross-linking agent, sodium persulfate as the initiator, and acrylic acid as the monomer. Orthogonal optimisation experiments were designed to obtain optimal process parameters for hydrogel preparation with the cellulose dosage of 0.40 g, initiator dosage of 0.20 g, polymerisation temperature of 70°C, cross-linking agent of 0.25 g, and monomer dosage of 3.0 mL. The effect of initiator dosage on hydrogel synthesis was… More > Graphic Abstract
