Xiaoling Qu, Xingshuo Yang, Siqi Li, Changan Tian, Zaibo Li, Zhiguang Zhao*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3335-3350, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.020636

Abstract The associated MgO in limestone is believed to affect the volume stability of cementitious materials at room temperature, which limits the utilization of low-grade limestone. In this study, MgO was used as an alkali activator instead of partial CaO to prepare the aerated concrete under hydrothermal conditions. The expansion process was studied to evaluate the influence of the raw materials on the gas forming stability of the slurry. The pore structure (porosity, pore size and its distribution) was analyzed by the image method. The physic-mechanical properties (density, strength, thermal properties) of concrete with the addition of MgO were comprehensively investigated.… More >

    Jianan Wu1, Ke Xue2, Zhaowei Ding3, Lei Lang3, Kang Gu3, Xiaolin Li4, Mingli Zhang5, Desheng Li3,6,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3167-3183, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.020265

Abstract Thermal insulation is an important indicator to evaluate the construction material in cold region engineering. As we know, adding the industrial waste as lightweight aggregate or creating the pore inside the cement-based composite could make the texture loose, and the thermal insulating capacity of the material would be improved with this texture. Using these methods, the industrial by-product and engineering waste could be cycled in an efficient way. Moreover, after service the fragmented cement composites paste could be used as aggregate in the thermal insulating concrete again. While the porous texture is not favorable for the mechanical strength and long-term… More > Graphic Abstract

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3119-3130, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019576

Abstract To enhance the thermal stability and flame retardancy of epoxy resin (EP), beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) is successfully introduced into the layered tin phenylphosphonate (SnPP), which is incorporated into EP matrix for preparing EP/β-CD@SnPP composites. The results indicate that the addition of β-CD@SnPP obviously improve the thermal stability and residual yield of EP composites at higher temperature. When the amount of β-CD@SnPP is only 4 wt%, EP/4β-CD@SnPP composites pass V-1 rating, and LOI value is up to 30.8%. Meanwhile, β- CD@SnPP effectively suppress the heat release and reduce the smoke production of EP/β-CD@SnPP composites in combustion, and the peak heat release rate… More >

    Shams B. Ali1, Sarmad Fawzi Hamza Alhasan1, Evan T. Salim2,*, Forat H. Alsultany3, Omar S. Dahham4,5

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.11, pp. 2819-2834, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021609

Abstract The pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technology was used to effectively create conductive nano and micro hafnium oxide with great purity and transparency for (HfO2) nanofilms. In many optoelectronics devices and their applications, the presence of a high dielectric substance like a nano HfO2, between the metal contacts and the substrates was critical. We used the Pulsed Laser Deposition method to fabricate an Al/HfO2/p-Si Schottky barrier diode where the nanostructured HfO2 films as an intermediate layer and varied substrate temperatures. The optical result reveals a high degree of transparency (93%). The optical bandgap of deposited HfO2 films was observed to vary… More >
