    Rida Tazi1, Adil Echchelh1, Mohammed Hattabi2, Mohammed El Ganaoui3, Aouatif Saad4,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 223-232, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.021976

Abstract The successful manufacture of thick composites is challenging since the highly exothermic nature of thermoset resins and limited temperature control make avoiding the onset of detrimental thermal gradients within the composite relatively difficult. This phenomenon is mainly caused by exothermic heat reactions. The so-called Michaud's model has been largely used in the literature to reduce the gap between experience and simulation with regard to the effective prediction of the temperature cycle in these processes. In this work, another solution is proposed to simulate the curing process for thick composites, namely preheating the resin to activate the curing reaction before resin… More >

Abstract The numerous applications of Maxwell Nanofluid Stagnation Point Flow, such as those in production industries, the processing of polymers, compression, power generation, lubrication systems, food manufacturing and air conditioning, among other applications, require further research into the effects of various parameters on flow phenomena. In this paper, a study has been carried out for the heat and mass transfer of Maxwell nanofluid flow over the heated stretching sheet. A mathematical model with constitutive expressions is constructed in partial differential equations (PDEs) through obligatory basic conservation laws. A series of transformations are then used to take the system into an ordinary… More >

    Wenpeng Guo1,2, Yongtu Liang1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 2049-2064, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019526

Abstract In this paper, the transportation economy of two heated crude oil pipelines laid in one ditch is analyzed by taking into account the influence of operating temperature, interval between two pipelines, and distance between two heating stations on the heating energy consumption. To analyze the transportation economy, the two heated crude oil pipelines laid in one ditch are simulated under four operating conditions based on an unstructured finite volume method. Compared with laying two crude oil pipelines separately in two ditches, the results attest notably higher soil temperature, meaning reduced heat dissipation of each pipeline by laying two pipelines in… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.5, pp. 1253-1261, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021759

Abstract In this paper, we theoretically investigate the total optical coefficient (TOAC) considering 1S-2P and 2S-2P conduction subband transitions in a single parabolic quantum well (SPQW) with an on-center hydrogen-like impurity. Within the framework of the effective-mass approximation, the Schrödinger equation is solved numerically to obtain the eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenvectors using the finite difference method. The calculations are performed for finite confinement potential height, taking into account the dielectric and effective mass mismatches between GaN and InGaN materials under the considered electric field and temperature effects. The temperature dependence of the effective mass, dielectric constant and band gap energy… More > Graphic Abstract

Kailei Wang, Mingjing Li*, Peng Yan, Leiting Dong*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.1, pp. 165-197, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019188

Abstract The main goal of this work is to study the ballistic performance of multi-layered moderately-thick metallic targets. Several target configurations have been considered in this work, with various types of interlayer connection (spaced, contacted and adhesive) and the number of layers (four and eight), and the influence of target configurations on ballistic performance has been studied experimentally and numerically. In the experiments, the targets were impacted by 12.7-mm projectiles at a velocity around 820 m/s. The experimental results show that, with similar total thickness, the contacted and adhesive targets exhibit better ballistic performance than the monolithic targets, and the four-layered targets… More >
