Abstract Early detection of the Covid-19 disease is essential due to its higher rate of infection affecting tens of millions of people, and its high number of deaths also by 7%. For that purpose, a proposed model of several stages was developed. The first stage is optimizing the images using dynamic adaptive histogram equalization, performing a semantic segmentation using DeepLabv3Plus, then augmenting the data by flipping it horizontally, rotating it, then flipping it vertically. The second stage builds a custom convolutional neural network model using several pre-trained ImageNet. Finally, the model compares the pre-trained data to the new output, while repeatedly… More >

    Songbin Li1,*, Peng Liu1, Qiandong Yan1, Ruiling Qian2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 4999-5013, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026498

Abstract Recent convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based deep learning has significantly promoted fire detection. Existing fire detection methods can efficiently recognize and locate the fire. However, the accurate flame boundary and shape information is hard to obtain by them, which makes it difficult to conduct automated fire region analysis, prediction, and early warning. To this end, we propose a fire semantic segmentation method based on Global Position Guidance (GPG) and Multi-path explicit Edge information Interaction (MEI). Specifically, to solve the problem of local segmentation errors in low-level feature space, a top-down global position guidance module is used to restrain the offset… More >

Abstract Cardiac anatomy segmentation is essential for cardiomyopathy clinical diagnosis and treatment planning. Thus, accurate delineation of target volumes at risk in cardiac anatomy is important. However, manual delineation is a time-consuming and labor-intensive process for cardiologists and has been shown to lead to significant inter-and intra-practitioner variability. Thus, computer-aided or fully automatic segmentation methods are required. They can significantly economize on manpower and improve treatment efficiency. Recently, deep convolutional neural network (CNN) based methods have achieved remarkable successes in various kinds of vision tasks, such as classification, segmentation and object detection. Semantic segmentation can be considered as a pixel-wise task,… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 1089-1105, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019979

Abstract The game user interface (UI) provides a large volume of information necessary to analyze the game screen. The availability of such information can be functional in vision-based machine learning algorithms. With this, there will be an enhancement in the application power of vision deep learning neural networks. Therefore, this paper proposes a game UI segmentation technique based on unsupervised learning. We developed synthetic labeling created on the game engine, image-to-image translation and segmented UI components in the game. The network learned in this manner can segment the target UI area in the target game regardless of the location of the… More >

    Jing Peng1,2,4, Chaoyang Xia2, Yuanwei Xu3, Xiaojie Li2, Xi Wu2, Xiao Han1,4, Xinlai Chen5, Yucheng Chen3, Zhe Cui1,4,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 259-272, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016749

Abstract Cardiomyopathy is a group of diseases that affect the heart and can cause serious health problems. Segmentation and classification are important for automating the clinical diagnosis and treatment planning for cardiomyopathy. However, this automation is difficult because of the poor quality of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging data and varying dimensions caused by movement of the ventricle. To address these problems, a deep multi-task framework based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed to segment the left ventricle (LV) myocardium and classify cardiopathy simultaneously. The proposed model consists of a longitudinal encoder–decoder structure that obtains high- and low-level features… More >

Abstract Coronavirus 19 (COVID-19) can cause severe pneumonia that may be fatal. Correct diagnosis is essential. Computed tomography (CT) usefully detects symptoms of COVID-19 infection. In this retrospective study, we present an improved framework for detection of COVID-19 infection on CT images; the steps include pre-processing, segmentation, feature extraction/fusion/selection, and classification. In the pre-processing phase, a Gabor wavelet filter is applied to enhance image intensities. A marker-based, watershed controlled approach with thresholding is used to isolate the lung region. In the segmentation phase, COVID-19 lesions are segmented using an encoder-/decoder-based deep learning model in which deepLabv3 serves as the bottleneck and… More >

    Aziguli Wulamu1,2,*, Jingyue Sang3, Dezheng Zhang1,2, Zuxian Shi1,2

    Journal of New Media, Vol.2, No.4, pp. 149-155, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jnm.2020.014115

Abstract Cultivated land extraction is essential for sustainable development and agriculture. In this paper, the network we propose is based on the encoderdecoder structure, which extracts the semantic segmentation neural network of cultivated land from satellite images and uses it for agricultural automation solutions. The encoder consists of two part: the first is the modified Xception, it can used as the feature extraction network, and the second is the atrous convolution, it can used to expand the receptive field and the context information to extract richer feature information. The decoder part uses the conventional upsampling operation to restore the original resolution.… More >

    Rizwan Ali Naqvi1, Dildar Hussain2, Woong-Kee Loh3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 715-732, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013249

Abstract Multiple ocular region segmentation plays an important role in different applications such as biometrics, liveness detection, healthcare, and gaze estimation. Typically, segmentation techniques focus on a single region of the eye at a time. Despite the number of obvious advantages, very limited research has focused on multiple regions of the eye. Similarly, accurate segmentation of multiple eye regions is necessary in challenging scenarios involving blur, ghost effects low resolution, off-angles, and unusual glints. Currently, the available segmentation methods cannot address these constraints. In this paper, to address the accurate segmentation of multiple eye regions in unconstrainted scenarios, a lightweight outer… More >
