Summary
The seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures remains a critical area of research due to their widespread use and inherent vulnerability to strong ground motions. Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in understanding structural behavior, developing innovative retrofitting techniques, and advancing computational tools for seismic analysis. Nevertheless, the increasing complexity of urban environments and the pressing need for sustainable, resilient infrastructure continue to drive the search for more effective and adaptable innovative solutions.
This Special Issue invites original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and case studies that explore recent advancements in the seismic analysis, design, and retrofit of concrete structures. Particular emphasis is placed on the integration of novel materials, advanced experimental methodologies, and state-of-the-art modeling techniques to enhance the seismic resilience of RC structures.
This Special Issue welcomes contributions on, but not limited to, the following themes:
· Seismic performance assessment using analytical and experimental techniques
· Fragility analysis and probabilistic seismic risk assessment of existing RC structures
· Innovative retrofitting materials and techniques.
· Recent advances in soil-structure interaction and their impact on seismic analysis, seismic behavior of RC structures under multiple hazards
· Advanced numerical modeling, including machine learning and AI-driven approaches for seismic analysis
· Performance-based seismic design and retrofit strategies for enhanced resilience
· Energy dissipation mechanisms and the development of novel damping devices for RC structures
· Experimental investigations and large-scale testing of strengthened or retrofitted structures
· Life-cycle assessment, resilience, and sustainability considerations in seismic retrofitting
· Case studies and lessons learned from recent global earthquake events
· Evolution of design codes and standards in response to recent research and technological advancements
