Summary
Mental health and emotional processes are increasingly recognized as culturally situated phenomena shaped by socialization practices, collective identities, historical experiences, and sociocultural contexts. Growing cultural diversity, migration, Indigenous revitalization, and global social transformations have intensified the need to better understand how emotions and mental health are experienced, expressed, and addressed across diverse populations. Despite these developments, much research and practice continue to rely on universal assumptions that may overlook culturally grounded understandings of emotional functioning and mental health.
This Special Issue aims to advance interdisciplinary knowledge on the relationships between emotion and mental health in contexts of cultural diversity. It seeks to bring together empirical, theoretical, methodological, and review studies that examine emotional processes, mental health experiences, and culturally responsive approaches to assessment, intervention, and promotion across diverse cultural settings.
