Summary

Rapid advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping approaches to mental health promotion, while physical activity, sleep, nutrition, and other lifestyle behaviors remain central modifiable determinants of psychological well-being. This Special Issue will examine how established lifestyle-based strategies can be integrated with emerging digital and AI-supported approaches to strengthen prevention, early identification, personalization, and health promotion across diverse populations.

The aim is to bring together interdisciplinary evidence from exercise science, behavioral health, lifestyle medicine, psychology, sleep research, nutrition, digital health, and preventive medicine. We welcome original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and innovative methodological studies addressing mental health outcomes in the general population, athletes, older adults, and clinical or at-risk groups.

Suggested themes include physical activity and psychological well-being; exercise-based mental health interventions; sleep quality and sleep disorders; athlete mental health; obesity, metabolic health, and behavioral health; healthy aging; cognitive and psychomotor performance; cognitive-motor interventions; integrated exercise, nutrition, and sleep strategies; digital and technology-assisted physical activity; AI and machine-learning applications for monitoring, prediction, and personalized lifestyle interventions; and implementation, ethical, and practical considerations surrounding digital preventive strategies for mental health promotion.

The issue particularly encourages translational and multidisciplinary work that connects measurable lifestyle behaviors with scalable, evidence-based strategies for improving mental health and quality of life.
