Summary
Biofuels and bioenergy play a pivotal role in advancing a sustainable and circular bioeconomy. This special issue will explore the critical intersections of biofuels, bioenergy, sustainability, and circular bioeconomy with an aim to promote a deeper understanding of how these fields can collaboratively address global energy and environmental challenges.
This collection of research will highlight the transition from a linear, fossil-based economy to a circular model that emphasises the use of renewable resources and the valorisation of waste streams. By bringing together diverse perspectives, this special issue aims to pave the way for a more sustainable and circular energy future.
Key topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
· Advanced Biofuel Production and Technologies: Next-Generation Feedstocks, Innovative Conversion Processes, Advanced Biofuels.
· Bioenergy and Circular Bioeconomy: Waste Valorisation, Biorefineries and Integrated Systems, Nutrient and Resource Recycling.
· Bioenergy and Sustainability: Techno-Economic Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment, Socio-Economic Impacts and framework.
· Novel and Emerging Concepts: Electrofuels and Power-to-X, Hybrid Energy Systems, Bio-based Products and Green Chemistry.
