Summary
The global transport sector is undergoing a paradigm shift, moving away from internal combustion engines toward electrified solutions. While Electric Vehicles (EVs) have reached mass-market viability, the next frontier lies in the unified integration of renewable energy sources—specifically solar power—to achieve true net-zero mobility. This special issue explores the comprehensive range of topics related to technical innovations, energy management strategies, and infrastructure developments necessary to support sustainable transportation systems. Areas of interest include innovative vehicle electrification architectures, advanced battery technologies, energy management strategies, solar-powered charging stations, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) systems and the development of efficient charging networks integrated with smart grid systems. We invite original research, review articles and novel perspectives that address the engineering challenges of modern EVs, from the chemistry of high-density batteries to the aerodynamics of solar-integrated vehicles. By bringing together interdisciplinary research on powertrain efficiency, solar harvesting, and smart charging infrastructure, this issue aims to provide a comprehensive roadmap for the future of green mobility.
