Summary
This Special Issue focuses on environmental approaches to the design, manufacturing, and deployment of green energy technologies. As the global transition toward renewable energy accelerates, ensuring that clean energy infrastructure is inherently sustainable across its entire life cycle from raw material extraction to end-of-life management has become a vital engineering priority.
Green energy systems must balance high technical performance with minimal embodied carbon, resource conservation, and ecological preservation. Integrating eco-design principles, circular economy frameworks, and comprehensive life cycle assessments (LCA) into early-stage engineering is critical to developing resilient solar, wind, hydrogen, and storage systems. This issue aims to bridge technological innovation with environmental stewardship by showcasing sustainable design methodologies and low-impact construction practices.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Eco-design frameworks and LCA for renewable energy systems and components
· Sustainable materials and substitution of critical raw materials in clean technologies
· Circular economy and recycling: decommissioning, remanufacturing, and end-of-life strategies for solar, wind, and battery assets
· Low-carbon manufacturing and green construction for large-scale energy infrastructure
· Mitigation of ecological footprints, land use impact, and biodiversity loss
· Environmental modeling and digital twins for sustainable design optimization
We invite authors to submit original research papers and comprehensive reviews presenting theoretical advances, design methodologies, or real-world industrial case studies.
