Summary

Photovoltaic (PV) generation plays a central role in modern energy systems. As PV penetration continues to increase, ensuring the reliable and optimal operation of distributed PV assets becomes essential to maximize energy yield, limit performance losses, and support long-term system value. In this context, robust operational assessment frameworks are increasingly needed to characterize real-world behavior, identify inefficiencies, and improve decision-making across diverse deployment scenarios.

This Special Issue aims to provide a dedicated forum for recent advances in the operational assessment of photovoltaic systems. Particular emphasis is given to the development of novel assessment metrics, real-world performance evaluation, data quality assurance, and advanced data-driven methods for PV monitoring and yield optimization.

We invite original research articles from academic researchers and industry professionals. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Performance analysis, yield assessment, and long-term degradation of PV systems.
· Advanced data analytics and machine learning for PV monitoring and operational optimization.
· Development of novel metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for PV evaluation.
· Data quality assessment, advanced monitoring practices, and fault or anomaly detection in distributed PV assets.
· Methodologies for empirical performance evaluation in local energy communities.
