Summary

The rapid transition toward low-carbon energy systems is accelerating the integration of renewable energy sources, distributed energy resources, electric vehicles, and advanced energy storage technologies into modern power networks. While these developments support decarbonization, energy security, and sustainability, high penetration of variable renewable generation creates new challenges related to flexibility, stability, reliability, resilience, uncertainty, and coordinated energy management. Addressing these challenges requires intelligent, adaptive, and resilient power-system architectures capable of secure and efficient operation under increasingly complex conditions.

This Special Issue aims to provide an international platform for researchers, engineers, and practitioners to present recent advances in resilient and intelligent power systems for effective renewable energy integration. Particular emphasis is placed on integrated engineering approaches combining renewable generation, power-system flexibility, energy storage, smart grids, intelligent control, artificial intelligence, forecasting, and advanced energy management.

The Special Issue welcomes original research and high-quality review papers covering renewable energy integration; power-system resilience, reliability and stability; flexibility enhancement; advanced battery and hybrid energy storage; intelligent energy management; smart-grid planning, operation and control; AI and machine learning applications; microgrids and distributed energy resources; forecasting and uncertainty management; demand response; and sustainable pathways toward secure, flexible, intelligent, and low-carbon power systems.
