Abstract High-performance glass-ceramics are increasingly explored for their suitability in high-frequency dielectric applications, presenting a significant challenge in materials science. A primary focus has been allocated to investigating borotellurite glasses operating at frequencies below 15 MHz. Borotellurite glasses with the composition 69TeO-10BO3-10PbO-10ZnO-1ErO3 were fabricated via the melt-quenching method. This study examines the effects of heat treatment durations (1–24 hours) on these glasses. Variations in density, molar volume, structure, and dielectric properties were attributed to changes in non-bridging oxygen bonding resulting from the heat treatments. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the amorphous nature of the as-quenched glass. Morphological changes More >

Abstract SnSe powdered nanoparticles (NPs) are prepared using the co-precipitation method. The powdered NPs were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-absorbance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterization techniques. The XRD result indicates that NPs are orthorhombic with a crystalline size of 4 nm for TS-1, 6 nm for TS-2, and 13 nm for TS-3, respectively. The SEM images show the surface morphology of the prepared NPs is not fully spherical, but semi-flower-like. The optical properties of the powdered NPs are found by UV-Vis absorbance spectroscopy, in which the highest absorbance was found between 200 nm More >

Optimizing the structure, morphological and optical properties of Co-doped CDS, nanoparticles synthesized at various doping concentration and design sensors for optimal application

    R. Rajeeva,b,*, C. M. S. Negia
    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.5, pp. 469-480, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.225.469
Abstract Cobalt-doped cadmium sulphide nanoparticles of semiconductors (CDs: Co NPs) were synthesised using various cobalt concentrations utilising a microwave-assisted approach. Debye-Scherer equation revealed the nanoparticles' size range to be between 2 and 4 nm. Diffraction from X-rays revealed a zinc mix structure. According to the structure in the optical bandgap energies indicates that, doping has systematically raised the bandgap energy as the doping concentration raises. The composition of the nanoparticles which was verified by EDAX, validated the effective integration of cobalt into the CdS structure. The detection of different functional and vibrational groups was performed at More >

Influence of Ag content on direct current conductivity of Agx(As2(Te0.5Se0.5)3)100-x system

    G. R. Štrbaca,*, O. Bošákb, D. Štrbacc, R. Vigia, M. Kublihab, S. Minárikb
    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.5, pp. 481-491, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.225.481
Abstract The temperature dependence of direct current (DC) conductivity, silver content, and the presence of crystalline phases in amorphous and annealed chalcogenides from the Agx(As2(Te0.5Se0.5)3)100-x system was investigated. Amorphous samples exhibited semiconducting behavior, with conductivity increase as the silver content raised. This increase was primarily attributed to electron transitions into delocalized states from states localized near the Fermi level. Percolation behavior in conductivity was observed in the samples containing 7 at.% or more silver. For annealed samples with silver content below 9 at.%, temperature-independent DC conductivity was identified, accompanied by a decrease in conductivity as the silver More >

Preparation and characterization of CuAlXSn1-XS2 thin films prepared by electron beam deposition system

    A. S. Alqarnia,, S. N. Alamrib,
    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.5, pp. 493-506, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.225.493
Abstract Abundant and environmentally friendly solar cells materials Cu2AlSnS4 (CATS) thin film successively prepared by electron beam deposition system. The impact of various deposition times and post-annealing at 450 °C under nitrogen gas atmosphere on the structures, morphologies, and spectroscopic characteristics of the obtained CATS films were investigated. Both deposition time variation and annealing process were found to significantly affect the crystallinity, bonding vibration, surface morphology, energy band gaps, and Urbach energy of the CATS films. EDX spectra of the films disclosed the existence of all constituents’ elements. XRD analysis of the post-annealed films verified their multiple More >
