    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 117-149, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.121
Abstract Triage is a method for determining the priority of patients’ treatment to improve survival rates. Different triage methods are used in hospitals, and they are applied after performing an evaluation based on standard methods such as the Japan Triage Acuity Scale (JTAS) or Emergency Severity Index (ESI). It is important to consider the characteristics of all the hospitals when assigning triage methods and emergency levels to them; the hospital managers make these decisions. We propose a multi-agent simulation method to support the hospital managers in employing the triage protocols according to their environment. We developed a prototype simulation system called… More >

Plane Vibrations in a Transversely Isotropic Infinite Hollow Cylinder Under Effect of the Rotation and Magnetic Field

    F. S. Bayones1, A. M. Abd-Alla2
    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 151-170, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.155
Abstract The aim of this paper is to study the effects of rotation and magnetic field on the plane vibrations in a transversely isotropic material of an infinite hollow cylinder. The natural frequency of the plane vibrations in the case of harmonic vibrations has been obtained. The natural frequencies are calculated numerically and the effects of rotation and magnetic field are discussed. The numerical results obtained have been illustrated graphically to understand the behavior of frequency equation with different values of frequency under effects the rotation and magnetic field. Comparison was made with the results obtained in the presence and absence… More >

Uniform Query Framework for Relational and NoSQL Databases

    J.B. Karanjekar1, M.B. Ch,ak2
    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 177-187, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.177
Abstract As the data managed by applications has evolved over the years with the arrival of Web 2.0, a large number of new databases have been developed to manage various types of data. While the traditional relational databases continue to exist, NoSQL databases which are document oriented or key-value stores or columnar continue to evolve and are embraced very rapidly across the industry. It is not just the type of data handled by these databases that is different but also the query language they use is also different. This paper talks about a uniform query framework that can be used for… More >

    Meng Li1,2, Jixiong Zhang1,3, Nan Zhou1, Qiang Zhang1
    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 183-194, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.189
Abstract To study the influence of coal mining on the stability of river levees, a mechanical model of mining-induced river levee deformation was established. This was based on the mining-induced deformation characteristics of river levees and the application of a typical surface subsidence function. Meanwhile, a failure criterion was proposed for river levees. Using some examples, the deformation of, and stress distribution through, river levees under the influence of mining were obtained: the maximum tensile stress on the bottom of the river levee was less than the tensile strength, under which circumstance the river levee remained undamaged. Meanwhile, this research analyzed… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 195-202, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.201
Abstract Grading of writers in perspective of their handwriting is a challenging task owing to various writing styles of different individuals. This paper presents a framework for grading of Devanagari writers in perspective of their handwriting. This framework of grading can be useful in conducting the handwriting competitions and then deciding the winners on the basis of an automated process. Selecting the set of features is a challenging task for implementing a handwriting grading system of particular language. In this paper, curvature features, namely, parabola curve fitting and power curve fitting have been considered for extracting the vital information of writers,… More >

Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete Rebound Optimization

Sadık Alper YILDIZEL1, Muhammet Ensar YİĞİT2, Gökhan KAPLAN3
    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 203-218, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.211
Abstract Glass fibre reinforced concrete placement technique generates losses due to rebound effects of the already sprayed concrete particles. Rebounded concrete amount cause a significant difference between the initial mix design and emplaced mix compositions. Apart from the structural differences, it comes with a cost increase which was resulted by the splashed concrete amount. Many factors such as viscosity and quantity of mixes dominate this rebound amount in sprayed glass fibre reinforced concrete applications depending on production technologies and processes; however, this research focuses on the spray distance and the angle of the spray gun which mainly effects the rebound amount… More >

Local and biglobal linear stability analysis of parallel

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.113, No.2, pp. 219-237, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2017.113.229
Abstract Linear Stability Analysis (LSA) of parallel shear flows, v ia local and global approaches, is presented. The local analysis is carried out by solving the Orr-Sommerfeld (OS) equation using a spectral-collocation method based on Chebyshev polynomials. A stabilized finite element formulation is employed to carry out the global analysis using the linearized disturbance equations in primitive variables. The local and global analysis are compared. As per the Squires theorem, the two-dimensional disturbance has the largest growth rate. Therefore, only two-dimensional disturbances are considered. By its very nature, the local analysis assumes the disturbance field to be spatially periodic in the… More >
