Cryptography and cybersecurity have become foundational to safeguarding digital infrastructure and personal data in today's hyper-connected world. As novel threat vectors emerge and computational paradigms evolve, addressing modern challenges in secure communication and information protection is more critical than ever.
The Special Issue "Modern Challenges in Cryptography and Cybersecurity" seeks to gather high-quality contributions exploring theoretical advances, methodical innovations and practical applications that enhance resilience in cryptographic systems and cybersecurity frameworks. It invites work that spans from foundational cryptographic research and protocol design through emerging paradigms (such as post-quantum, lightweight, or quantum-secure cryptography) to applied studies of cybersecurity in dynamic contexts (e.g., networks, IoT, machine learning, privacy). The goal is to foster cross-disciplinary discussion and present cutting-edge results that support the journal's mission to publish novel research bridging computation, mathematics, and communication technologies.
Therefore, this special issue focuses on modern challenges in cryptography and cybersecurity. The following subtopics are the particular interests of this special issue, including but not limited to:
· Post-quantum, quantum-safe, and lightweight cryptographic algorithms
· Cryptographic protocol analysis, design, and implementation
· Privacy-enhancing technologies and identity management
· Machine learning / AI for security and privacy in communication systems
· Secure software development, formal methods, and trustworthy systems
· Cyber-physical systems, IoT infrastructure, and network security
· Ethical, legal, and policy aspects of data protection and cybersecurity
