Summary

The rapid evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems has led to an unprecedented growth of distributed data generation, requiring intelligent processing capabilities closer to the data sources. Edge Artificial Intelligence (Edge AI) has emerged as a key paradigm to address latency, privacy, and scalability challenges inherent in centralized cloud-based systems.

This Special Issue aims to explore recent advances, challenges, and applications of Edge AI and intelligent systems within IoT environments. It seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners working on innovative methodologies, architectures, and real-world deployments that enable efficient, secure, and scalable intelligent processing at the network edge. The scope includes both theoretical contributions and practical implementations across diverse domains such as smart cities, industry 4.0, healthcare, and environmental monitoring.

Suggested themes include (but are not limited to):
· Edge AI architectures and frameworks
· Distributed and federated learning in IoT
· Multi-agent systems for edge intelligence
· Energy-efficient AI for embedded and edge devices
· Security, privacy, and trust in Edge AI
· Real-world applications (smart agriculture, smart cities, Industry 4.0)
· Integration of AI with 5G/6G and edge-cloud continuum
