With the increasing complexity of modern systems and infrastructures, ensuring their resilience and adaptability under resource, energy, and deployment constraints has become a critical challenge. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a key enabler for building smart and resilient systems, particularly through efficient, lightweight, and deployable AI models that can operate in real-world environments.
This special issue aims to showcase cutting-edge research on AI-enabled smart resilience with an emphasis on lightweight and resource-efficient intelligence, covering methodologies, framework design, and cross-domain applications. Contributions are welcome from theoretical developments, empirical studies, and practical implementations that address efficiency, scalability, and on-device deployment, particularly in areas such as smart cities, AIoT, edge computing, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
Topics of interest in this special issue include (but are not limited to):
· Lightweight and resource-efficient AI methodologies for smart resilient systems
· Frameworks and architectures for efficient and deployable AI-enabled resilience
· Intelligent systems for smart cities and infrastructures under resource and energy constraints
· Edge AI and AIoT for resilient systems with limited computation and memory
· Efficient cybersecurity and privacy-preserving AI for resource-constrained environments
· Compact and adaptive AI models for digital transformation
· Cross-domain integration and real-world case studies of lightweight AI deployment
· AI-supported decision-making with low-latency and low-complexity requirements
