Summary

Rare renal tumors account for approximately 20% of all kidney cancer cases, yet their diagnosis, molecular characteristics, and optimal management remain largely unexplored. In 2022, the updated WHO classification introduced new and emerging rare renal tumor subtypes, underscoring the growing complexity of this disease group. Given their rarity, these tumors often pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, necessitating further research to improve patient outcomes.

This special issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research on rare renal tumors, including studies on novel molecular and genetic features, emerging biomarkers, and advances in preclinical and clinical investigations. We welcome contributions exploring innovative diagnostic tools, targeted therapies, and personalized treatment approaches for these uncommon malignancies. Additionally, we encourage the submission of compelling clinical cases and case series that provide valuable insights into the clinical presentation, pathology, and treatment responses of these tumors. By fostering a deeper understanding of rare renal cancers, this special issue seeks to advance the field and facilitate the development of more effective management strategies.
