Summary

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undergone rapid advancement in recent years, giving rise to transformative technologies and applications with far-reaching implications. From convolutional neural networks for image feature extraction, to Transformer and recurrent models for natural language processing, and graph neural networks for analyzing complex topological structures, AI is reshaping both theory and practice across disciplines.

Its impact spans diverse domains: in healthcare, AI enables early disease detection, accelerates drug discovery, and supports personalized treatment; in finance, it strengthens risk assessment, fraud detection, and algorithmic trading; in autonomous systems, it empowers self-driving vehicles, UAVs, and robotic assistants with real-time perception and decision-making. Similarly, smart manufacturing benefits from predictive maintenance, quality control, and supply chain optimization; education leverages adaptive learning platforms; and the geosciences employ AI for climate modeling, disaster prediction, and resource management. Beyond these, AI continues to influence the creative industries and accelerate scientific discovery, underscoring its capacity to revolutionize the way we live, work, and interact with the world.

As AI technologies continue to evolve, their transformative potential is matched by pressing challenges that demand critical synthesis and reflection. To this end, this special issue seeks review articles only, with an emphasis on works such as introducing new theories and conceptual frameworks, critically evaluating methodological innovations, synthesizing application strategies across disciplines, and providing in-depth investigations of current challenges and emerging frontiers in AI.
