Summary

Circadian rhythms are fundamental regulators of cellular homeostasis, metabolism, DNA repair, immune responses, and tissue physiology. Increasing evidence indicates that circadian disruption may contribute to cancer initiation, progression, treatment resistance, and clinical outcomes through complex interactions involving the molecular clock, transcriptional and epigenetic regulation, metabolism, inflammation, and the tumor microenvironment. Understanding these mechanisms may provide new insights into cancer development and therapeutic responses.


This Special Issue, "Circadian Biology in Cancer: Molecular Mechanisms, Biomarkers, and Therapeutic Implications," aims to bring together recent advances exploring the role of circadian dysregulation in cancer biology and translational oncology. Contributions addressing molecular and cellular mechanisms, clock gene regulation, epigenetic and metabolic alterations, inflammation, and tumor–microenvironment interactions are particularly welcomed. Studies linking circadian disruption to cancer development, progression, therapeutic response, and clinical outcomes are especially encouraged.


The Special Issue will also highlight emerging biomarkers for cancer risk, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response, as well as novel chronotherapeutic and precision-medicine approaches that exploit temporal biology. Original research, reviews, systematic reviews, and perspectives are welcomed to foster interdisciplinary discussion and advance the integration of circadian biology into cancer prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, and personalized treatment.
