Summary

Cancer remains one of the most formidable challenges in medicine, affecting millions of lives worldwide. Despite significant advances in our understanding of the disease, the intricate interplay between cancer, autophagy, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, cell cycle and apoptosis remains a focal point of research. The proposed special issue aims to explore and elucidate the complex relationships between these processes in the context of cancer, focusing on mechanistic insights, therapeutic strategies, and future directions.

This special issue invites contributions spanning a wide spectrum of topics related to the intricate interplay of cancer, autophagy, ER stress, cell cycle, and apoptosis, including but not limited to:

-Mechanisms of Interplay: Understanding how cancer cells harness autophagy, ER stress, cell cycle, and apoptosis for survival and proliferation is pivotal. Delve into the mechanistic insights into the crosstalk between these processes and their implications for cancer development.

-Targeting autophagy, ER stress, cell cycle, and apoptosis in cancer therapy: With the growing interest in autophagy, ER stress, cell cycle, and apoptosis as therapeutic targets in cancer treatment, this topic will feature research on the development of novel interventions and drugs that exploit the connections between these processes.

-Resistance Mechanisms: Cancer cells often develop resistance to apoptosis and autophagic cell death. This topic will explore the molecular basis of resistance mechanisms and potential strategies to overcome them.

-Emerging Biomarkers: Identification of biomarkers associated with the autophagy and apoptosis pathways in cancer holds promise for precision medicine. Articles will focus on the discovery of novel biomarkers and their clinical applications.

-Future Perspectives: The rapidly evolving field of cancer, autophagy, and apoptosis research offers exciting prospects for the future. Review articles are expected to offer insights into the potential directions and emerging trends in this dynamic area.

We welcome original research articles and reviews that shed light on the interplay between cancer, autophagy, and apoptosis. Submissions should adhere to the journal's guidelines and will undergo a rigorous peer-review process. We hope to advance our understanding of the mechanisms, treatment options, and future perspectives that will aid in the fight against cancer. We look forward to receiving your contributions and collectively contributing to the ongoing battle against this devastating disease.
