Summary
Background and Importance:
Minimally invasive surgery has transformed modern urologic practice, improving perioperative outcomes while expanding the complexity of procedures that can be performed safely and effectively. In recent years, robotic and advanced laparoscopic techniques have enabled major progress not only in oncologic surgery but also in reconstructive urology and kidney transplantation. These developments are reshaping surgical indications, patient selection strategies, and functional outcomes across a wide spectrum of urologic diseases.
Aim and Scope:
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of contemporary innovations in minimally invasive and reconstructive urologic surgery, with particular emphasis on robotic-assisted techniques, complex laparoscopic procedures, and emerging applications in renal transplantation. Topics of interest include technical advances in robotic oncologic surgery, reconstructive approaches for ureteral, bladder, and pelvic floor conditions, minimally invasive donor nephrectomy, robotic kidney transplantation, and strategies to optimize functional and oncologic outcomes.
By bringing together original research, systematic reviews, technical reports, and expert perspectives, this Special Issue aims to highlight current standards, identify unresolved challenges, and explore future directions in minimally invasive urologic surgery. It will serve as a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers, and trainees seeking to understand the evolving role of advanced surgical technologies in improving patient care in urology.
