Summary
In an era of ecological uncertainty and social change, understanding plant diversity and human-plant interactions is crucial for building resilient, sustainable ecosystems. This special issue highlights the vital role of plant sciences—including taxonomy, physiology, ecology, and applied research—in addressing global environmental and societal challenges through ethnobotany and bioeconomy.
We invite contributions exploring how traditional knowledge, plant diversity, and modern technologies—such as genomics, digital databases, and bioinformatics—can promote ecological balance, sustainable use, and cultural preservation. Topics include plant taxonomy and conservation, ethnobotanical research and participatory methods, advances in plant biochemistry, digital tools for data analysis, the role of fungi and plant-associated organisms, development of plant-based materials, sustainable harvesting and cultivation, plant-derived medicines, and policy frameworks for resource management and benefit-sharing.
By integrating traditional wisdom with innovative science and technology, this special issue aims to demonstrate how plant science can foster a sustainable future rooted in biodiversity conservation and cultural respect.
