Summary

Intracellular transport and signal transduction are fundamental processes critical for cellular function and homeostasis. Understanding the molecular mechanisms governing these processes is essential for elucidating their roles in health and disease. This special issue aims to delve into the intricate pathways of endocytosis and phagocytosis, exploring their connections with signal transduction and their implications in various cellular contexts, including disease states.

We invite submissions that provide novel insights into how these processes are coordinated at the molecular level, how they influence cellular behavior, and how their dysregulation can lead to pathological conditions.

Topics of Interest Include, but are Not Limited to:
1. Molecular Mechanisms of Endocytosis:
- The role of small GTPases (e.g., Rab5) in endocytosis.
- Mechanisms of receptor-ligand interactions regulating intracellular trafficking.
2. Signal Transduction and Cell Proliferation:
- Interactions between endocytosis and intracellular signaling pathways.
- The role of oncogenes (e.g., Ras) and tyrosine receptor kinases in cell proliferation and cancer.
3. Phagocytosis and Immune Response:
- Mechanisms of pathogen internalization by phagocytic cells.
- Molecular events during phagosome maturation and its interaction with the endocytic compartment.
4. Intracellular Transport and Disease Models:
- Dysregulation of endocytic and phagocytic pathways in cancer.
- The role of these processes in autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases.
5. Technological Advances in Studying Intracellular Transport:
- Novel methods and technologies for investigating endocytosis and phagocytosis.
- Single-cell analysis techniques revealing the complexities of intracellular transport.

We welcome original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying intracellular transport and signal transduction. Manuscripts should provide mechanistic insights and robust experimental data to elucidate the complex interactions and processes involved. This special issue aims to bridge the gap between fundamental cellular processes and their implications in disease, fostering a deeper understanding that could pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies. By focusing on the underlying molecular mechanisms, we hope to shed light on the complex and dynamic nature of intracellular transport and signal transduction.
